WEDNESDAY WEIGH-IN: WEEK 5

Down 4.2lbs on the scale today, I think half of that is because it was PMS time last weigh-in, regardless, I'm happy to be below my starting weight again. I want to be out of the 200's by the end of the month, maybe even down to 195lbs. I think 5lbs a month is a good goal, and realistic too.

I checked out the "Goodlife" gym today, it's close to my work. I picked up my three free trial passes, had a tour and chatted with one of the sales people. I'm 99.9% certain I am going to join after I use my free passes next week. It's actually cheaper then I was expecting, and they've done quite a few renovations to the place. Of the three gyms around my work, it's my favorite. I'm looking forward to going next week, I've scheduled Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as my days to go, right after work. I'm a little nervous too, it's been a while, and I know I'm out of shape.

WEDNESDAY WEIGH-IN: WEEK 3 & 4

Know what you get when you lay around for almost two weeks with a horrid sinus infection not exercising and eating pretty much whatever you want? Weight gain.

Feeling better now, making an appointment to check out a gym near work, I NEED to JOIN and GO to a gym, I've finally realized that I NEED to do this or the weight isn't going to come off.

That's my goal for next week, check out a gym or two. I'm hoping they will give me a pass to try it out for a few visits first. There are at least 3 gyms within walking distance to work, I want to make sure I join the right one for me. The one close to home wasn't. I figure if I join the one close to work I don't have any excuse not to go 3 or 4 times a week, because if I have something going on after work, I can always go on my lunch hour, it's that close.

WEDNESDAY WEIGH-IN: WEEK 2

So I weighed in today at 206.4lbs, that's up 2.6lbs from last week, and also .6lbs higher then my first weigh-in of the year!!!

I should probably be freaking out, but I'm not, and here are the reasons why:
1. I kinda feel like my Christmas indulgences have finally caught up with the scale.
2. I've barely moved off the couch for the last 10 days due to a bad sinus infection.
3. I had a a high sodium meal for dinner last night, and then air popped popcorn with salt while what watching TV last night.

These aren't excuses, these are the facts, but it's also a wake up call to really get going on this, and that means exercise, which I haven't been doing.

I've decided I'm just going to concentrate on cardio until the end of February, a minimum of 3 times a week, starting at 20 minutes, and slowly build up to a longer time. I'm either going to do this in the morning before work, or right after I get home. My exercise bike, walking outside or my walk away the pounds dvd are my methods of choice.

Goal for next week-To have at 3 least cardio workouts under my belt.

WEDNESDAY WEIGH-IN: WEEK 1

Down 2lbs today on the scale! Was happy and surprised to see the loss, as I haven't been feeling well, and haven't done much in the way of exercise.

I did get my "automated" breakfast and lunch figured out for work, even though I've only been to work one day this week due to illness.

Breakfast during the work week is going to be a serving of high fibre cereal, like bran buds and yogurt. Lunch is going to be half a sandwich (whole grain bread with a low fat protein like chicken or tuna with mustard) and some baby carrots or sliced cucumber. I'll also have a piece of fruit in between breakfast and lunch if I feel I need it, or with lunch. I'm going to save the other half of the sandwich for my afternoon snack while on the subway ride home.

Goal for this week is to get a regular exercise routine figured out.

WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY ~ 2010

There is something great about the start of a new year, it's like a fresh start, and I, like so many others plan to take advantage. My new years resolution is to finally use all the knowledge I have about eating healthier, weight-loss, and exercise to work, and blog about it every Wednesday for the next year.

I weighed in today at 205.8lbs, that's a couple pounds down from my last blog post, but it's also a couple pounds up from the last time I weighed myself, so I guess that balances out. I ate my way through Christmas, so gaining a couple pounds is no surprise.

My goal for the next week is to get a couple breakfasts and lunches figured out, so it's a no brainer for work mornings and I don't have to think about it too much.

See you in 2010!

CATCHING UP

It's been a couple weeks since I posted, but I wanted to get back at it, as I hope to blog here at least a couple times a week and let you all know how it's going.

For the past 6 weeks I was going through I bit of a health scare and that became all I could think/worry about. Finally found out yesterday that I am fine, and even if the scale doesn't show it, I feel like I lost a 100lbs!

I've had to make some tough decisions these past couple weeks about some other things too. One, I am not going to be seeing my nutritionist anymore, or at least not for a few months. Financially, it's just not doable at this time. The basement repairs this past summer really set us back, and we have a lot left to do and any extra money needs to be set aside for that at the moment. I'm really quite bummed about it, but I know it has to be done. She has taught me what I need to know, and I know that it's really up to me now, but I will miss her and our chats. She invited me to come in anyway and hop on the scale once in a while, and I will definitely be taking her up on that offer!

Speaking of scales, I bought myself a new one last night since I won't be seeing Susan regularly and weighing in. I had an old one, but I've had it a long, long time, and I couldn't see the little lines anymore, between the 5lbs increments. So, I bought myself a new digital one, like the picture posted. I adjusted my weight again to show what the new scale says and once again, I am making Friday weigh-in day.

I've read a couple amazing books I wanted to share with you, "The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl" and "Confessions of a Carb Queen". I can't tell you how inspirational these true weight-loss stories are. At first I didn't think I would have something in common with someone who was so overweight, boy, was I wrong. I had so much in common with these ladies their books brought tears to my eyes more then once. I highly recommend these books.

Ok, that's enough for now, off to start my day, just wanted to let you know I'm back. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, I appreciate it more then you know.

PM ~ DAY 15

Well, I have two weeks in of "project me", and feel like I'm off to a good start despite only having lost a pound so far. I know I'm making healthier changes; eating better more often, keeping a food diary, walking more again and joining the gym.

I do enjoy blogging and will keep that up as I find it helps, but maybe not everyday, as life hands us enough to do everyday without adding something else to the pile, but I promise to write a few times a week for sure, and keep you up to date on my progress.

Thanks for the comments so far and keep them coming, as I love reading them!

PM ~ DAY 14

Had an appointment with my nutritionist yesterday. Down 1lb in two weeks, that was kinda disappointing. BUT, I know I wasn't moving much and was still recovering from pneumonia during some of that time, Next weigh-in will be better, especially if I can watch the treats, I treat myself too often, but I'm worth it!

Seriously though, I was proud of myself for keeping my food diary, joining a gym, and planning my food intake. Once I get the exercise going a little more regularly and cut back on the indulgences it will show up when I weigh-in, I know that.

PM ~ DAY 13

Yesterday started off so good, healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, and I had my gym stuff at work to go after. Then I had a personal bomb dropped on me, which I am not ready to share the details of until I know more.

I let the stress monkey take over, big bag of Lays potato chips, changed into my robe and spent hours in front of the TV after I got home from work, no gym. That was yesterday, today is a new day, and even though I am still dealing with my personal bomb, I am not going to run to junk food, because that isn't going to make anything better anyway.

I see my nutritionist after work today and then plan on walking home from her office which is a good 40-50 minute walk.

PM ~ DAY 12

Went to the gym after work!! I didn't really want too, but I did. I walked up from Runnymede subway station, did the circuit once, some free weights and then walked home. So, I got in about a 60 minute walk plus the circuit.

I'm only going to do the circuit once until I'm more used to it, and then move it up to 2 times, as it doesn't take that long.
