PM ~ DAY 15

Well, I have two weeks in of "project me", and feel like I'm off to a good start despite only having lost a pound so far. I know I'm making healthier changes; eating better more often, keeping a food diary, walking more again and joining the gym.

I do enjoy blogging and will keep that up as I find it helps, but maybe not everyday, as life hands us enough to do everyday without adding something else to the pile, but I promise to write a few times a week for sure, and keep you up to date on my progress.

Thanks for the comments so far and keep them coming, as I love reading them!

PM ~ DAY 14

Had an appointment with my nutritionist yesterday. Down 1lb in two weeks, that was kinda disappointing. BUT, I know I wasn't moving much and was still recovering from pneumonia during some of that time, Next weigh-in will be better, especially if I can watch the treats, I treat myself too often, but I'm worth it!

Seriously though, I was proud of myself for keeping my food diary, joining a gym, and planning my food intake. Once I get the exercise going a little more regularly and cut back on the indulgences it will show up when I weigh-in, I know that.

PM ~ DAY 13

Yesterday started off so good, healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, and I had my gym stuff at work to go after. Then I had a personal bomb dropped on me, which I am not ready to share the details of until I know more.

I let the stress monkey take over, big bag of Lays potato chips, changed into my robe and spent hours in front of the TV after I got home from work, no gym. That was yesterday, today is a new day, and even though I am still dealing with my personal bomb, I am not going to run to junk food, because that isn't going to make anything better anyway.

I see my nutritionist after work today and then plan on walking home from her office which is a good 40-50 minute walk.

PM ~ DAY 12

Went to the gym after work!! I didn't really want too, but I did. I walked up from Runnymede subway station, did the circuit once, some free weights and then walked home. So, I got in about a 60 minute walk plus the circuit.

I'm only going to do the circuit once until I'm more used to it, and then move it up to 2 times, as it doesn't take that long.

PM ~ DAY 11

I started going to gyms in my 20's and went on and off for the next 10 years. I attempted to keep going in my 30's, but it never worked, life kept getting in the way, as did laziness. After my last gym membership expired I swore I would never join a gym again. Why? I went twice, the day I joined, and 365 days later to quit.

Never say never.

I've really learned a lot about myself in the past year, and two things I know for sure; one, I won't work out at home and two, I am not going to lose the weight I want without regular exercise.

I really enjoyed where I went for the Boot Camp class in the spring but regular membership is way out of my price range, so I went to check out another gym that is on my way home from work.

It's called "Circuit Fitness Plus", it's a small woman's only gym. I liked the simplicity of the circuit for my weights work out, plus they have free weights, offer classes, and have a cardio room as well.

I joined for just a month, because I want to make sure I go. I'll probably do that for a couple months, make sure I'm going and that I like it before I lock into a year.

My goal is to go 3 times a week, twice after work, and once on the weekend, first thing in the morning. I'm scheduling those days into my calendar like any other appointment.

Brought my gym clothes to work today to go on the way home.

PM ~ DAY 10

Yesterday I joined a gym and had a Big Mac for lunch! How's that for balance?!

Let me explain my day. I slept in a little bit and didn't have a lot of time for breakfast before leaving for my appointment at the gym, so I only had a yogurt for breakfast. It was a 30 minute walk to the gym and then I did a trial workout on the "circuit" of weight machines.

After that was done and I joined (more about that tomorrow) I walked up to meet Rob at Wal-Mart. By this time I am starving and had no food on me, and there isn't anything around except the McDonald's in Wal-Mart, Rob was starving too, so Big Mac's for lunch it was! Looking back now, I could of gotten a protein shake at the gym, or a smaller burger at McDonald's, but I had reached that point....you know, that point where you are beyond hungry and will eat almost anything, and you want everything?

I have to start carrying something in my purse for emergencies like yesterday. I did have a light dinner, mixed baby greens topped with scallops, much more satisfying and much healthier.

PM ~ DAY 9

I had a friend over for a birthday dinner last night. I knew I was going to be having some wine and dessert, so I had a lighter breakfast and lunch.

Instead of buying or making a birthday cake, I went to a local bakery and bought 1/2 a dozen cupcakes. I didn't want to have half a cake in the fridge or a couple dozen cupcakes if I baked them myself like I usually do. I'm not strong enough to throw it in the garbage to resist temptation and I don't want to rely on the whole "send it home with the guests" technique, because that doesn't always work either.

Anyway, we had a lovely dinner of garlic sea scallops, cous cous, and green beans. We each enjoyed one cupcake for dessert. I had 2 glasses of wine, and for the first time ever, didn't finish the bottle! It's re-corked and in the fridge, I figure I can enjoy a glass tonight or use it for cooking.

I think I'm getting a handle on this balance or moderation thing, yeah me!

Got a small walk in yesterday, but plan on a bigger walk today, I'm walking to and from a ladies only gym I want to check out, it's about a 30 minute walk each way.

PM ~ DAY 8

Thursday is my long day, where I stay at work til 7PM, the day feels twice as long because I normally leave between 2-3PM. I took an early dinner at 4PM and went out for Japanese food. I don't have tempura anymore but have discovered spicy salmon rolls and edamame, this with a few pieces of sashimi and a bowl of miso soup make a great meal. Going for Japanese food feels like such an indulgence, but it's easy on the waist line if you order right.

PM ~ DAY 7

Had a work lunch yesterday at an Italian restaurant. I ordered what I wanted, seafood risotto and ate it til I was satisfied, not stuffed. I also had half of a bun, a small Greek salad and one glass of wine. That is more then I usually eat at lunch time, so I tried to balance it out at dinner by just having a small piece of salmon and a large mixed green salad.

Walked home from the subway again yesterday too, I didn't feel like it, but I did it anyway.

PM ~ DAY 6

Walked home from the subway yesterday after work, first time in a month! If felt good to do it, it's such a great time of year for walking, fresh and crisp.

Sweet tooth won the battle last night, and I ended up having a 100 cal cupcake and 1 Reese peanut butter cup. I'm trying to save my sweet treat for after lunch, when I really feel like I need it. I only had a bowl of soup for dinner, so it probably wasn't anymore calories in an evening then it would of been anyway.

Gotta work on my water intake today, I know I'm not drinking enough during my work day, having none is definitely not enough!
